Reinette the Doll

Welcome

This gorgeous doll was actually one of the first crochet dolls I’ve ever made. This precious is called “Reinette”. I made Reinette helping @pengpuff.crochets . I was one of the pattern testers for this doll. I had a lot of fun making this doll and I learned a handful of things and did some tricks to make it easier to make. Let me tell you what tricks I used and teach you how to do them.

One of my tricks

One of the tricks that I did is that I used pins while sewing the hair to the doll. This way I would pin the hair to the doll's head before sewing. It was really funny how she looked with all the pins around her head. I would strongly suggest that you also use pins if your sewing pieces to the amigurumi's main part. In my case that was the body. Below is a picture of the pins I use.

Tips

I think it’s time that I teach you the trick and techniques I learned making this amigurumi. Here is the list of the techniques I will teach you.

  1. Back Loop Crochet

  1. Triple Crochet Decrease

  1. Invisible Decrease

Those are the techniques you will get to learn today. Let’s get started.

Crochet in the Back Loop

Step 1:

Insert hook in the back loop, not both.

Step 2:

Yarn over and pull through loop.

Step 3:

Finish whatever stitch your crocheting.

When you're crocheting in the back loop make sure to crochet tightly so that there's not a big hole under the stitch.

Triple Crochet Decrease

Step 1:

In the next stitch crochet a triple crochet but do not finish the stitch.

Step 2:

Now in the next stitch crochet a triple crochet but do not finish the stitch.

Step 3:

Now yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on your hook.

Invisible Decrease

Step 1:

Insert your hook into the front loop of the next stitch.

Step 2:

Now insert your hook into the front loop of the next stitch.

Step 3:

Yarn over and pull through two loops.

Step 4:

Yarn over and pull through another two loops.

Making this doll was a lot of fun. Below are some photos of my Doll.
