This Pine Cone is one of my best works. It took me a long time but it was worth it. I had a lot of fun making it. Every detail of this amigurumi mattered to make it look cute but at the same time realistic. Please head over to my Instagram and like my pine cone post posted by @aprende_crochet. These are the ones I think will serve you best so let me teach you how to do these techniques.

Tips

How to make the pine cone flaps

Step 1:

First you must make sure, that the row you wish to make the flaps on is a back loop row. Look at the photo to see what I mean.

Step 2:

Join yarn to the stitch where you want your first flap to start.

Step 3:

Start crocheting stitches in the next loops that will make the flap shape.

When I was making this part of the Pinecone I made a couple of mistakes when counting the stitches. So to make sure that doesn't happen to you I recommend using pins. They're easy to use and will make your crochet life so much easier. When I first used pins I asked myself why didn't I start using them earlier. You can also use them to attach pieces and then sew them. I will create a blog post soon on how to use Pins but for now, let's keep going with the Pinecone tips.

How to crochet in front loop

Step 1:
To crochet in front loops simply enter your hook in the next loop normally. See the photo to see what I mean.

Step 2:

Now pull the yarn through the loop normally.

Step 3:

Now complete the stitch that is required by the pattern your following.

How to join two legs without sewing

Step 1:

First you will need to make both legs.

Step 2:

One you have made the second don’t finish it. For this pattern I made a chain of three.

Step 3:

Then you crochet in other leg.

Once you have done this you have connected both legs. Now you will Crochet around both legs normally and on both sides of the chain. If you are doing this following a pattern make sure to follow the pattern if it says you should do things differently than how I am teaching it to you. It might say make a chain of 2 instead of 3 or a chain of 5.
